Generic icons - saved web pages

I've just about had it! Does anyone know how to stop web page icons from reverting back to generic, or how to fix them? It happens everytime I clean temps and defrag.

Sometimes they come back to the right favicon when I visit the site again, but this isn't happening after two days now.

All the little icons are fine in my "favorites".

I have a folder on the desktop that I save a shortcut to all the various forums that I've registered in. These are the web page icons that constantly get changed. Google is on my desktop ... so it gets the generic look too.

I'm still working with Win7 build 7000, so I don't have the same options as you do for browsing history.

    Hi Jacee,

You might see if one of these methods may do for a workaround.

    Hope this helps,

Hi Shawn, I've made .ico's for Google and Yahoo before. This is going to take some time to get the rest made!

I have the same prob. (7000) All the icons on the bookmarks toolbar in FF and IE are correct, but the icons on the toolbar I've added to the taskbar are gone. Haven't bothered to fix as I don't use them that often.

Yeah, creating those icons is the only bad part about the workaround.

If you do not already have a program like IcoFX, it's pretty helpful with creating icons. It's free to.

I think but I'm not sure that this has something to do with FF 3.08. I'm still looking (and experimenting) at what may have caused this 'glitch'.

Work-arounds are fine, but I'm goin'a sleuth a bit more
