Hello willfrod, welcome to Seven Forums!

Have you made sure if the TV has an "input source" selector and it's set to PC? that's the way mine is.

    Thanks for the welcome

I have connected via a vga connector and set it to pc but still no joy.

I have heard that my cards drivers are not supported in windows 7 I am a total beginner by the way.

i do get my desktop on the main tv screen but cannot get anything else there are no desktop icons or anything else just the wallpaper.

Have you been here to get the latest driver, be sure to select the right system info for the download.

Yup done that to I am running a 64 bit version of windows 7 and updated it this morning.

I will most probably have a play around with the Catalyst control centre see if i get any success there.

You won't get anything like that if it's not selected as the "main display".

All you have to do now is drag the media player Window over to the TV screen.
