    need more space on HDD!

    Hey,

    I just got windows 7 ultimate(64bit). It takes up about 20gb on my HDD. I only have a 74gb HDD. I like to play WOW and COD MW2. The problem I am having is I don't think I am going to be able to fit them both on my hard drive.

    My question is what can I take out of window 7 to make the file size smaller. I have already delete all the sample pictures and movie. What else can I take out with out messing up the OS?

    Thanks in advance for the help!

    Welcome!

    You could run Disk Cleanup (in the start menu) and delete what you can.

    You can go into Turn Windows Features On or Off, and remove what you don't need.

    buying a bigger hard drive helps, they are much cheaper now! although if you are short on cash, then there is not much that can be done.

    Hi there, delete system restore points. If needed, turn off system restore.

    Hey, I'm using about 60GB of space with COD World at War, Team Fortress, Several other miscellaneous games, Bioshock, Office, Windows 7 Ultimate, and a hack load of other random programs installed. You should have more than enough space.

    @zen00

    Ya it should fit everything. I mean i was able to fit them both on Vista 64bit. Also 1 thing I just thought of, after I did the install I only had about 25gb on my HDD left. I did a custom install. I am at work atm so I am unable to check this, but I might have a windows old file that is eating up all the space. I'll check it out when I get home. Thanks for the help!

    Yeah, just run disk clean up and if the option to delete windows.old files is there, do it. Unless you need them.

    Run this command in elevated CMD.

    powercfg.exe -h off

    It will save you a few GBs (size of your RAM) by eliminating the hibernation file that you probably do not need.
