Delighted it seems to have worked. But on the other hand do hope you are one of our female members
Virus and attachments are always bad news.
This is worth a try and really good housekeeping.
Whenever you get an attachmentto an email, no matter who it is from ALWAYS save it to your desktop. Then right click on it and you should get the choice to "Scan with [Your anti virus]". Only if it is clean should you then open it. You can of course then safely move it to a better location or delete it.
Do this when you are sometimes given a data CD or memory stick especially those that you read for a friend!!!!!!!!!! If in doubt, do it. It cannot harm anything and may just save your bacon!

    Hi.

This gets recommend a lot here - www.malwarebytes.org, so give that a try to remove it.
How can I install malwarebytes if I can't run any progams. When I run most programs it automatically goes to what looks like a zip file with .text and .data like files in it. But when I click on those it asks for an open with menu to choose a program. I think it might be a registry problem but I can't run System Restore or My antivirus. I can run chrome by going to one of the "open with" and then choosing "choose program from internet", so that it will automatically bring up chrome. all icons had turned into 7-zip manager for some reason
    Please help
