Windows seven 32 or 64 bits

    Hi,

I need your advices about wheter I should install Seven ultimate 32 or 64 bits.
My configuration is a bit oldish and I am not going to upgrade it.
    - Gigabyte GA-K8NS
    - Sempron64 3100+
    - 3x1GB of DDR PC3200
Most of the application I use are so far only available in 32 bits.
All my hardware have 64 bits driver.
Got only 3GB of RAM so it is fully addressed by Seven 32

Do I get any better performance by having Seven 64
and use mostly 32 bit applications ?

If your computer is old and most of the programs would not run with 64 bit, I would stay with 32. The performace increase would be marginal, at best.

Tend to agree 7x32 would be better on that PC. You wouldn't see any real benifit unless it had more than 4 gigs Ram anyway.

Many Members of this forum, suggest that 4 GB is the cutoff, as suggested above.
MS says that you must have 2GB.

Ok thanks for your prompt suggestions.
Since the mobo can not take more than 3x1GB of RAM I'm going to install Seven 32bits.

You are making the right decision. If you save both the 32 and 64 bit DVD. You can use the 64 later, as long as you have the OS on only one computer at a time.
