Windows 7: Desktop Search

Could anyone recommend a good desktop search engine?

I've been using Copernic Desktop Search but I wanted to keep my eyes open in case there was something else out there.

I've tried Google Desktop but don't like how it has to go on line at what seems like every 10 seconds just to check for updates (why would anyone need to update that often). Besides Copernic indexed far more items than Google did.

I have four internal hard drives that all need to be indexed and each document on them has to be indexed too - not just the file names.

Thanks

A

I have tried out Everything Search recommended by another member, works great. The only drawback is that it does not search file content. But it does search for files rather fast.

This is what I would have recommended.

Windows 7's default search feature is awesome. It's better than any third-party software. It can find any file on my computer within a fraction of a second.

I'm only finding things on the C drive with it.

Is there a way to access the program and change that?

Of course there is. You can index any location on your pc. There are two ways to do so. My preferred method is to add your Documents, Music, Video, Pictures etc locations from your hard-drive to the Libraries. Then those files will be automatically be indexed.

Another method is to index your files using Indexing Options. Just type "Indexing" in the start search box to open Indexing Options. Then click on the Modify button to add/remove files from the search index.

Here are the tutorials for these actions:

Thanks.
This tutorial helps.
I just went through the steps and added a bunch of locations.
It's already found a lot more keywords than before.
Thanks again.
