    Logical Disk Manager Service missing

    Hi,

Does someone know the equivalent service for the "Logical Disk Manager" service from XP? I'm using Windows 7 ultimate and do not have this service in the list. Thanks in advance!

    Best regards,
    Frank

Hello FrankWhite, welcome to Seven Forums!

Maybe if you provide some idea of what you're needing to do someone can help you sort this out.

    Hi, thanks for your reply!

Well, I actually just want to know what has happend to this service? I have searched Google for it and as far as I could find the service still existed in Vista Ultimate, but on Windows 7 there's no trace of it... So I can check the status of it (Running, Enabled, Disabled). That's all basically.

    Best regards,

    Hello Frank.

I've just been all through the list of services in Vista Ultimate and it is not listed there either, the closest is the one highlighted in the snip below, both in Vista and Windows 7.
The best way to handle the services in Windows 7 and Vista for that matter, is to let the system manage the services, it's a whole 'nother animal from XP and they don't need micro-managed like XP did, in fact you may cause Windows 7 to run exceptionally slower if some services are changed from their default setting.

Thanks again for your quick and usefull reply. I also have noticed the Virtual Disk service, I have searched Google for it and at first sight they aren't the same... I have no clue what other service it could be though, so maybe it is the Virtual Disk anyway.

Oh, and I didn't know I could slow down my PC by tweaking the services. I see a lot of websites refering to services tweaking for better performance on Windows 7 though just like on XP? Are they giving wrong advice then?

    Best regards,
    Frank

    Howdy.

Few here at Seven Forums would suggest "tweaking" services in Windows 7, most have found the hard way it creates more problems than it solves.

Have you tried typing diskmgmt.msc in the start menu search box? If that does not give you what you want, I must misunderstand the question.

It is also in the Admin tools.
