not sure where this should go so I'm putting it here. I can't create new folders through explorer through clicking the "new folder" button and the option is also missing from the right-click menu. I've tried the registry fix, but no can do.
Any ideas?

No activity, it seems it has receded to a mere decorative stage where is simulates being a useful button through animation but not much else. I'll run the check now and report back when it's done, thanks.
According to the scan everything's fine. Anything else I could do?
well wait to see if anyone else has a better solution first, but you could try a Repair Install: Repair Install

This is what I get. It's German, but I think you get the gist.
I only get that when I click an empty spot on the desktop, now you're making me wonder; but this (clean) install is less than 2 weeks old.
What version of Windows 7 and where did it come from? (not that's it's any of my business)
