So what happens when Win7 is released?

I'm trying to use Win7 more than XP cause I love it so much more. But, when it hits the shelves, are all copies discontinued? What will happen to my files, and will I have a chance to move back to XP?

Windows 7 betas have a set deactivation date like build 7077 expires on 02/03/10 and either wont be useable or will be restricted after that date.

RC1 and later builds of that branch may well have expiry dates that are further ahead. I suspect though that RC1 will give us a hint at when windows 7 might actually be released. So there shouldnt be any need to go back to a previous version of windows.

Just install RTM version when it comes out the same way you have been doing with the leaks.

I keep hoping the RTM hits on my birthday Sept 6th. It's a good guess right now. If it hits within a week....I will go buy the retail full for my birthday. haha

Will I have to reload when Win7 is released?
I'm currently using the evaluation (build 7100) of Windows 7, and I love it. I pre-purchased "Windows 7 Professional Upgrade" when they had the sale at half price. When I get my copy, can I just change the Product Key and activate, or do I have to reload Windows 7 all over again? If...
