Thank you all for the explanations. I am now that little wiser. My Windows 7 was pre installed on a new PC and I have never got involved with Beta versions. In fact this is the first time I have used a new version of Windows so early in it's history. I normally wait for a year to let the bugs get sorted. I'm surprised that people are so open about installing what is clearly not a "paid for" version, I thought Microsoft had a system of checking the authenticity of their operating systems.
Anyway perhaps this is not the right place to be discussing this!
First you said you installed W7 Pro and here you say it was pre installed, which is it?

Yeah I think we are over the hump now. He understands he needs a legitimate copy of Windows.

Do we really need to go off OT here about that?

Yes especially as you were mixing up two different posters, mitchell65 was not the original poster who had installed Windows 7 Professional.

    Hi Zomby88
Please have another look at the thread. I think you have got me mixed up as I have never said I installed W7 Pro. That was the original OP. I would repeat that my copy of W7 which you will see from my profile is Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit was pre installed on a New Dell PC!
