How to always force shutdown....

    Hello Grep, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    A forced shutdown is just that. It forces Windows to shut down instantly.

    The only problem with always using a forced shutdown is if something just happens to be currently in the progress of being saved when you do a forced shutdown, it will be lost.

    If you wait for anything running to finish and close everything before doing a forced shutdown, then it will minimize the risk of having an issue.

    It's not necessary to screw around in your Registry!

    Just create a Desktop Shortcut with this syntax.....

    %windir%\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 1

    Yes, there are three (3) spaces in that command!

    That is the Quick Shutdown shortcut that I used for all the years that I ran Windows 7.
    If I don't try to shutdown with a bunch of programs OPEN, my average shutdown time is around 5 sec's.

    And, by pinning that shortcut to your Task Bar, it becomes a "One Click Shutdown".
