Files Compression

is it okay to compress files/folders?
[right click - properties - General - Advance - 'Compress contents to save disk space']

is it advisable to do that on Program Files, maybe?

Hello jamichaels.

Every time I've seen someone mention doing this the outcome has always been bad, I would strongly advise against doing that, not a good idea as you may well FUBAR your install.

compression software to compress large files up to 50%
hello 7 groups..!! can any one please suggest me a software which can compress very large files and folders upto 50%? I tried all of these winzip,winrar,7 zip,peazip,hamster,universal extractor,zipltfree,pkzip,bit zipper.. but wasn't satisfied.. please help?
