Gawd...I'm reading thru the first 2 pages and my mind is screaming..."Change the CMOS Battery before you go buying stuff"!!!! Finally I saw someone post about "clearing the CMOS"...and I'm thinking, Ok, we may start getting on the right track here

Low power CMOS battery can cause this type of behavior and I've seen it soooo many times that it's completely overlooked, then they buy a new MB and everything works. Then later on they find out all they really needed was a new MB battery....ouch..expensive repair.

There is a definite checklist people should go thru before they start replacing parts, and the MB battery should be high on the list but it's too oft overlooked.

Change your battery Bryce, and most definitely get some top thermal paste on that CPU heatsink. I'm surprised an OC'd cpu without paste ran for that long and at not too bad temps.

Sure - if you want to void the warranty on a 5 month old laptop, go for it.

Not everyone is as technically proficient as you and I are. I take laptops apart all the time - but I also run a computer repair business on the side, so....
