What are all these extra directories

After I installed Windows 7 and some of my programs I started noticing all these directores in the root directory. I do not know what they are, and if I can remove them.
Does anyone know what these are for?
    $windows.~BT
    Blocks
    Config.msi
    i386
    inetpub
    install2
    msocache
    PerfLogs
    ScrubTmp
    SWSetup

Are these Windows programs or directorys for Windows 7?

Did you perform an upgrade or a clean install?

Well, I know a few of them. E.g Perflogs are the performance logs. i386 are your recovery files (a lot of them), Config.msi is required for installations, etc.
Unless you are in dire need for space on your disk, I would not mess with them.

Thank you but what are recovery files

I have a set of Recover CD's and i make backups. What other recovery files are there? Do these come from when you do a System Restore Point?

I would just use CCleaner and let it delete what's safe to delete.

I have several installs of Windows 7, sitting around. Perflogs and inetpub are the only two folders I have from your list. I suspect the remaining folders are left over from your previous (Vista) installation.
    But, fwiw,
Swsetup is used as part of downloading HP drivers so if you delete it it probably be recreated if you need to download an HP driver.
You can delete the i386 directory to regain space, as you state you have the recovery CD's. They have nothing to do with the ongoing running of Windows 7.
You have the Internet Information Services installed. This creates the Inetpub folder. You can delete it but it will be recreated with the use of the IIs.
Config.msi, has been created by the installation of Microsoft software, it can be deleted.
But I suspect the directories may well be on those CD's and your backups.
Apart from Inetpub and PerfLogs, why don't you, initially, rename the others. (Just add a 1 or something simple to the name) and use the computer for a couple of days to see if anything is amiss. I am pretty certain you will not be troubled.
