    Hi , i have a question .

So i had a feeling there's something wrong with my internal windows system as i messed around with services. My windows 7 is running on a compaq cq35 , i was wondering in any case that my laptop happens to crash, can i just hit f11 and restore to factory settings and restore all my files using windows back up ? i have a external hard disk which i back up to often. After restoring, do you think my system files will have an issue? thanks.

You can try to load the "default" services settings.

Windows 7 Services Registry Files and Information

If you scroll down the page You'll see a list of Windows 7 "default" registry patches. Just choose what edition of Seven you are running and download then install the patch file.

Let us know if this gets things stable again.

Oh yeah, i remember now. i once typed something into CMD and it said verifying system information or something, and it said i had errors that could not be fixed. any ideas how to fix them .. i have the log in CBS or something.

Go to Control Panel>Appearance & Personalization

Click change font settings.... Then restore fonts to default.

    Hi Zachary
Have you got the OS disk?
Also in future could you be more descriptive with your new topic title. "Hi I have a question" fits just about every Post on the Forum and that's thousands!

before u choose the full-blown factory restore, what about a system restore first? would that be of any help?

If you have errors that cannot be fixed with a System File Check, although you could possibly fix these by trawling through the CBS log, I would suggest that the best solution is probably a re-install or resore to factory settings.

Once you have the system back to spec you could then add your main programs and current updates and image the system drive to your external to provide a secure and quick method to restore things if thisgs go astay in future

Your PC will be exactly like when you brought it home from the place you bought it.

Just make sure you back up your files.
