I used Ultimate Windows Tweaker to remove the arrow from shortcuts. Not sure about the lock icon as I had no interest in removing it.

To get rid of all the "Are you sure you want to do this" popups, turn of UAC from msconfig / Tools tab / Change UAC settings..

Seven Forums has an excellent tutorial on how to remove the shortcut arrow overlay, have a look at the link below. It is not wise to disable UAC as it'll leave the system vulnerable to any rogue malware that tries to take control of the system.

    Hiya,

    Y'all misunderstood what I needed.
I needed access to the folders with shortcuts and locks.
I finally figured out that it was an ownership problem.

So I took ownership of all my HDD at once for each drive,
    and the problem went away!

This Windows 7 is really hinky compared to XP!
'This' slows 'that' down and can't boot because of the 'other' hahaha.
I got drivers and updated programs specifically for '7', and there are
    still weird problems.
I thought I knew my computer .. and now that '7' is here I feel like
    I am kindergarten again! LOL!

Taking ownership of an entire drive or drives is probably going to cause you problems in the future. There are some areas that need to be owned by System, just as was true in XP. It will be interesting to see if you have any future problems because of what you did.

    Keep us posted please, thanks.

1 last question ... Is there a suggestion site for windows 7?
I want to complain about the over amount of this security!
Every this I touch needs to be adjusted, and that is out of hand!
    again ...
    thanks!

    Areo Peek solution

On my taskbar, I have my normal icons for open programs,
but every time I hover over them, a small version of the open program displays.
Is there any way to get rid of that option? It's VERY annoying!!!
I found the solution to getting rid of the mini screens that
    Aero Peek produce!
Not only does it have to be unchecked in the taskbar options, but it needs to be unchecked in the "Performance Options/Visual Effects" too. This is the option that need
    to be unchecked:
    - Enable desktop composition
Now I don't have the smaller version of the window, only a little bit of text, and that is fine!
