    Strange half icon on desktop

I'm clutching at straws here, I think but suddenly part of an icon came up at the bottom right of my screen whilst I was scanning one of my external hard drives. I managed to capture it with the snipping tool just before it mysteriously disappeared, not to be seen again, I hope. I have checked the date on my PC and it has not leaped forward to 1st April
    Here it is:

    Any ideas

Looks like it's part of the scanning software.

This looks more like a bubble than a notification icon. My guess would also be that it is from the program you ran. Many programs announce that way that they are starting or ending something e.g. Macrium, Format Factory, etc. The bubble usually disappears after a few seconds.

Turns out to be the "Dell DataSafe Local Backup" icon. Many thanks for such a prompt response.

I was going to point out that the text being displayed should be a clue.
