    Aero snap doesn't work

    Hi folks.

I just noticed that my aero snap feature is not working ie. my windows don't maximize if dragged to the top or half screen if dragged to the side.

I've been in to control panel/ease of access.

This function was not disabled in "make the mouse easier to use", "make the keyboard easier to use" or " make it easier to focus on tasks"

I tried disabling it in all three and then re enabled it but it still doesn't work.

Thinking about it, I can remember when it did work but it hasn't for a long time.

Anyone got any ideas on this?

    Thanks, John:)

Thanks Derek. I tried both methods outlined in your link but, unfortunately they haven't fixed it.
    The troubleshooter shows no problem.
I also enabled "prevent windows from being rearranged when moved to the edge of the screen" but that has made no difference.
So I have no "snap" or "shake".
This hasn't bothered me for months but now I can't get it to work it's really bugging me:)

Just Curious, Does it not work with Win-key + arrows either?

    Hello John,

Are you other Aero features (ex: transparency, Aero Shake, etc..) working?

You might see if running a sfc /scannow command may help.

Hello Shawn. Thanks for moving this, I wasn't sure where to post it.

Transparency is working but not "shake" or "snap" to half panel or maximise at the top.
I just ran sfc/scannow and got this:

You might see if Option Two or Three on the tutorial below may be hanging around the registry causing this.

Aero Snap - Turn On or Off

What do you have in this registry location's right pane? Here's the default in the screenshot below. The values may be a bit different for you depending on yoru settings, but there shouldn't be any other entries in the right pane than these.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

    Hi Shawn.

I followed your link and tried steps 1 and 2. I downloaded the "enable aero snap" and merged it. No result.
I then went into regedit and followed step 3. Widows Arrangement already had a 1 value but I modified it by deleting the 1 and then putting it back again. Still no result.

My registry looks like this. There are a few differences to yours especially in the reg dword and reg.sz column. Here's a picture:

I do not see anything in there that would cause this for you at that location.

You might consider a repair install to fix it quickly without losing anything though.
