    Should I install Windows 7?

I have been debating with myself, undecided if I should install Windows 7 or not. I have the OS disc but haven't installed it.
My question is, for those of you who have installed it, is it worth the install or are there unsolved problems with the OS?
Also, if I install it over my Vista, if I decide I don't like Windows 7, will I be able to reinstall Vista with my Recovery CD?
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

which version do you plan to use? the latest craze is 7229 build.
if you run vista w/o issue, i'd say go for it. you can always make a new partition, so you can still have your vista os.

    Yes to everything!

Seven is COMPLETELY worth it (imo) and if you decide to go back to vista, then just recover/reinstall.

Dual boot is your best option. Your recovery disk should work fine.

Asking if you should do x on a site full of x fans is only going to get you 1 answer. Try the same question on an Linux forum. ;)

Agreed with Viper. I was running XP x64 as long as I could but finally I gave in to the temptation and boy am I happy. It feels like finally all my hardware has been unleashed. The machine is so responsive and also even games run better. I have no stuttering at all. I also see that the colors tend to pop out more. And its not a psychological thing the same thing has been reported by a few of my colleagues who have been running this version as well. And if the forum members say to switch believe me they know what they are talking about. :)

I'm running the RC1, 32bit on my netbook and 64bit on my desktop. There are some minor glitches, that's why it's called RC1, but for me it's quite stable and trouble free. It still depends, I suspect, on your hardware.

As most people will say on this forum... DEFINATELY!! I have run the beta, build 7085 and the RC with next to no problems. The only problem I have ever had was with the Homegroup setup, and I think I'm pretty close to solving that anyway...

If you have obscure hardware or peripherals, make sure that you can get Vista drivers (esp 64bit if you're gonna run x64), coz that may cause problems.

Other than that I would definately isntall asap!!

I would give it a try as it runs far better than Vista. Your safest bet is to go for a dual boot setup to test it first.
    1. Backup your data in case of problems.
    2. Create a new partition to install Windows 7 into.
    3. Install Windows 7 into the new partition you created.

Agreed. I think a dual boot is the best option especially as I think MS will offer upgrade deals from Vista.
I'm dual booting Vista x64 and W7 7229 (since yesterday).
W7 is so good that I rarely go into Vista except to update it lately.

    Cheers, John:)

dual boot is really easy, there are tutorials on this forum on how to do it.j
