    differences in 7077 and 7106

I dont get the build numbers still despite all the threads I have read.

It would seem that 7106 is newer than 7077, but I read that is not the case?

The 7077 I DL'ed and installed did not perform well at all. I just installed 7106 and it has icons that 7077 did not, and it is blazing fast compared to even 7068 I am running on another drive.

7106 seems newer and faster to me...

another strange thing about the 7106 I installed, it does not have the eval water mark in the lower right corner.

The EULA shows RC at the bottom..

    From Paul Thurrotts Supersite:

..recently, the (Windows client) team forked its build tree to accommodate separate RC (release candidate) and RTM (release to manufacturing) branches. The RC branch follows the existing 70xx build numbers, while the RTM branch has jumped to 71xx. These builds are kept in lockstep, so that build 7106....corresponds to RC build 7076.

    71XX are RTM builds
    70XX are RC builds

You will have to search for the release dates to see which is newer between the 71XX and 70XX builds because they are both being produced right now.

You have undoubtedly noticed that all the builds up until this point have come from the 70xx.0.winmain line, so you’re wondering where this 7106 build came from, and you’re probably wondering if it’s better than 7077. Here’s the hard fact: It’s not
    Build 7075.winmain (April 1) = 7105.winmain (April 4)
    Build 7076.winmain (April 2) = 7106.winmain (April 8)
    Build 7077.winmain_win7rc (April 4) = 7107.winmain (April 9)
