It's gettin too late. I installed the latest chipset drivers and all of a sudden I could do the startup repair with the other sata disconnected. Before that the Os was listed but size unknown and location uknown. The only thing strange this time was location E:. Anyhow it booted and on a hunch I looked at the 2 Pata drives and now there is a boot folder on both of them. I'm going to go sleep now.

Boot the WIn7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD, click through to Recovery Tools list to open a Command Line, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (replace # with new Win7 HD #)
LIST PARTITION
SELECT PARTITION # (replace # with Win7 partition #)
ACTIVE
EXIT

Now return to the Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots to write the MBR to Win7 partition. This will work if partition is marked active, but you must run it repeatedly until Win7 starts.
I had 4 active disks and all of them had boot folders on them. I followed your instructions and I all so set the other 3 inactive. Problem solved.

I Posted this and now I don't see it. I had 4 disks set active. All of them had boot folders. I did what you said and also changed the other 3 to inactive. All Fixed.
