    Programs' icons dissapearing

Yesterday, I installed 7077 and some of the programs I installed afterwards lost their icons.
Ie. all .DOC files lost their Word icon even though they are still associated with Word, PaintShopPro Startmenu shortcut reverted to the same default icon as .doc files. What is going on?

I had this happen to me one time. My icons were broke for 2 weeks and was driving me crazy. Except when mine went every exe in my pc went blank. I tried rebuilding cache and everything. I was able to fix them 1 at a time by going to properties and change icon choose the exe's default icon again then save, but still I had to do that 2 times to all exe's before the icon would return.

    Then I did this,
I don't know for sure what fixed mine will fix yours but its worth a try.
    I installed Stardock IconPackager
And just like that they were fixed. So give it a try.

I installed it, chenged icon pack. It worked for documents, not for shortcuts to programs.
Then, I uninstalled it and no my docs have an icon of windows security centre, and my shortcut programs are portrayed as Windows Chess Titans icons...

Try the properties method and see if that works.
Note I had to do it 2 times before the icon would return.
once the exe has its icon back the shortcut will too.

Silly question, have you tried the Default Programs setting (Start->Default Programs->Set your default programs)? As this can sometimes work.

You can just go down the list and select 'Set this program as default'.

    Hope this helps :)

Try resetting your file association. This is for Vista, but it sould (I think) work with Win7 too
