In this case yes. Not retail, expiration date... its just trial software.

It is not affecting M$ in bad way at all, and not losing them any cash.
There's a canyon of difference between trial software and leaked betas.

MS is obviously coming out on top by turning a blind eye(tons of real world data), but don't think for a moment anything happening with the leaked betas is anything near kosher in terms of legalities.

Make that quote to Bill Gates and his legal team that "didn't" win in their Anti-Trust case.....or in the EU.......

Microsoft knew all along that there were going to be leaks of the "Engineering builds", they also knew that as long as the product wasn't going to be a lame duck it would keep the hype going.

Notice as well that as soon as the Chinese / Russian / English 7106 build hit the torrents that Microsoft came out with a statement about not downloading builds from Torrents! Until then they had not said a thing.
    Coincidence???? You decide.

For all intents and purposes the builds we are using are for testing / evaluation purposes....says so on Desktop.....and we are Testing and Evaluating.....with an expiry date.
Call yourself a Pirate if you wish.....I do not consider myself one nor do I consider my version of Win 7 to be Pirated either....I am evaluating it to determine its suitability for my purposes.
If you are so concerned, simply go back to build 7000...but you might have to download it from a torrent if you didn't hang onto the ISO.
But 7077 is ahead of 7106

also there is a patch to keep 7077 running past March and June 2010 ( I know because I tried it ) , this is the kind of stuff that MS does not want out there right? Leaking more advanced builds does this I think.

This sort of illegal crack is an entirely different matter to the evaluation of leaked builds, within the terms of the EULA, and within the constraints of the time limit, and has no place on this forum.

So when I joined I asked about downloading from a torrent and such and got my hand slapped, but if we are going to talk about all these builds, any build but 7000 is not official.
    @howdr

    eh hem..

And that's why, because you weren't asking about downloading a torrent, but were discussing activation cracks, if you re check your first post.

Hey guys, Will we see builds of the RC come out like the Beta? Or just RC1 and RC2 perhaps? Just wondering. Thanks.

Hi found this on the official MS 7 forums and web site

so you cannot officially download 7 anymore

    MS tech forums

So My frustration here is that the Mods and Admin and I are using builds like 7077.

Even if you downloaded 7000 when it was available from MS 7077 never has been nor 7068 or 7106.

So when I joined I asked about downloading from a torrent and such and got my hand slapped, but if we are going to talk about all these builds, any build but 7000 is not official.

We are all pirates since we do not officially have permission to run 7068, 7077, 7106 what ever.

Can we at least talk about problems and sources with these builds or do we have to hide, admit we have a unofficial build and keep dancing around the info?

There is no official RC yet (7077 is an RC escrow the best build yet)

So those who scramble to get a 71xx build are getting unstable builds

Those who get the 70xx should have stability.

If you or any other poster is going to post win 7 is crap and you are using a 71xx build or you have major problems then format your disk and use 7000 or 7077 rc .

How can we help you with a known unstable build?

I am not sure what you are referring to with 7077 is ahead of 7106....7077 was leaked before 7106....even though the 7106 build date is prior to 7077.
The problem with 7106 is it is obviously tampered with...

Your comment on the patch really does put you into the Pirate area....majority of the people on here have stated they will be buying Win7 when it finally releases...

I will be running the RC as soon as I can...and I will provide feedback....as I would have done if I had been able with the leaked versions.
I don't expect too many users in this forum are looking on these builds as a "free" OS, moreover they are evaluating these builds and how they interact with their systems and existing programs, with a view to buying the RTM when it is released.

I respectfully disagree with that statement. WE KNOW these interim releases have Kill dates built into them and would not download them with the thought that we are going to keep them forever. A pirate would want to keep the bounty!

Seems a better description would be "second hand testers" and that seems like it would be invaluable to Microsoft. It stands to reason that someone at the big house is keeping an eye on comments from all of these forums, I certainly would if for no other reason than to see if something pops up that I had not anticipated and could correct before putting Windows 7 out on the market place.

I don't see any of these downloads being "pirated" until the retail version hits the shelves and I fully intend to PURCHASE Windows 7 soley based on my experiences with these various leaks.

Just my opinion mind you and I hope I didn't offend anyone...

Just to include parts of the EULA that indicate we are not "Pirates" in a legal sense. The EULA is very clear that we do have the right to use these versions when they are correctly activated with the key provided for that purpose.

I might be saying "ARGHHHH" from time to time but that is because I'm real grumpy in the morning before coffee, and not because I have a peg leg and a patch over my eye!
