Okay, so it's not bad to defrag anymore. Got it. Alright, I will remember that. 10% more. I don't really do a lot of uninstalling but I do install a lot. So I'll check and see if anything is over 10%.

(Updated my previous post with some more information/questions.)
As long as it has been since you last defragged, I would be surprised if you didn't have more than 10% fragmented. Personally, I don't like to let it get that high, but I have never really set any particular percentage to decide by.

Malwarebytes is good, but as far as I have found, it doesn't have a provision for real time protection, nor automatic updates. I very rarely have a problem with malware, but in a recent case, installing some games, it was Windows Defender that instantly popped an alert, even before OSS which is supposed to detect malware also.
You need to use the paid version to get the real time protecton. I won it, but there were conflicts, so I use it as the free version.

Awesome! A lot of time and work was put into the guide! Sheesh. I've read the Disk Cleanup and Defrag sections. You're right---it answered a lot of my questions.

    Thank you very much. :)

You are so very welcome, Talker. I enjoyed our chat. If you do return with a problem, I hope I see it before the others.

Aha! I think that I knew that, somewhere in the back of my head, but it is good to brush off the cobwebs. I'm curious what kind of problems that you had with the paid version that causes you not to use it?

I was using the free version and liked it. At another Forum, I won the paid version. Worked great. I had my A/V real time and MB real time. Few times a day my browser would turn very pale and everything froze. Could not even shut down. I used the event viewer and every incident invloved either the A/V or the MB. I now have it set not to have real time scans (its like the free version, again) and everything is fine.

In addition everytime I booted I had to turn the MB real time back on, some conflict turned it off.

Hmm, couldn't you schedule the time that MB scanned, so that it wouldn't conflict with the AV? However, if I had to keep turning it on, I would probably do the same as you did.

The paid version has real time protection, that seems to be the problem.

Yes, I guess that it wouldn't be possible to schedule it with that enabled, since it would run as it thought it needed to. I was also thinking about scheduling the firewall/AV, but with mine, I don't know that would work either, because even though it does have settings that seem as though they would cause a predictable behavior, I'm not so sure, because it seems to always be running a scan when I check, even though it's not scheduled to do so.

I have found it best to only have one real time protection. Other software can be used to scan weekly, etc.

Its late here 12:30, Im off to bed. Night to everyone. Was good meeting you Talker.
