File movement problem

I have a folder on my desktop that I want to move to another location on my computer. I open the location I want to move it to but get a caution window saying "File In Use" saying a folder or file in the file is being used by another program close that program and try again. Nothings running! I moved 4 other files to the same location I want this problem folder to go to w/ no problem.

They are music files, I thought WMC was the problem and removed it. But still no luck.

How do I move it?

Thanks, Tom

Maybe possibly doing a safe boot, then try to move/rename/delete the file.

1.Start button
2.type msconfig
3.click that .exe file
4.open boot tab
5.select safe boot>minimal
6.re-boot machine
7.try and move/rename/delete said file (hopefully it works)
8.start over by going back into msconfig.exe
9.back into boot tab, and de-select safe boot
10. re-boot your system, should be back in normal mode.

Maybe this might work. If you have already tried Richc46's advice, and it worked, please disregard this. He knows alot more than I do, this is just something I have done before that worked for stubborn, "busy" files.

Some program has a handle on the file. Usually the handle is released when you reboot. Have you tried that?

I used this several years ago but it was suggested to remove it from my system. Don't remember why, but never thought about it again

WHS has given you good advice. I have given the same to many, it works. Use it then uninstall if you are uncomfortable.
