i read that the RC was supposed to have like 120 half open connection limit stock... can anyone confirm the actual limit on build 7100?

    Some notes...

Installed on a clean newly formatted NTFS partition.

Took longer to begin the Expanding section

Did not reboot at the 27% point as other versions

Did not place a "Rollback" in the startup menu during installation. This may or may not have been caused by an errant Windows 7 entry being detected on a deleted partion. Had to use EasyBCD to fix that entry.

Took much longer on the Completing Installation section that previous versions.

    AFTER INSTALL:

My repeat button works on WMP 12

WMP 12 still has a bug where it does not recognize fully the ID3 tags in some MP3 files. They show up correctly when you play them and the MP3 plays fine, but those files are not included properly in the library.

nVidia GeForce FX 5 series VISTA drivers work or they have so far.

Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS VISTA drivers work better than the Windows Update version - sound and volume are much better.

I get the distinct feel that this version may be a bit slower overall, but then again that may be because I had too much coffee waiting for the darn thing to finish downloading this morning...

    That's all for now....

shouldnt that have been the aim/goal in the first place instead of the visuals?? this isnt Halo
No it is stability/ performance that will be their ultimate aim now. As swarfega said, eye candy first. Can you imagine the issues they could be creating now if they set about altering gui?

I am finding this not as good for me, we will see how it goes. Happy days Norton 360 not working again. lol

Having trouble with display on desktop machine, seem to not be able to display background image. Everything else works though. Bog standard graphics card as well.

......... Sorted it now, all fine just needed a couple of reboots after Nvidia update.

Starting to really see speed increases. Tired of installing different antivirus progs though. Gone through 4 brands during beta path. Just need something that works that covers everything from Antivirus to firewall through anti spam etc. Oh well to much to ask I guess. lol
Eset smart security 4 (nod32) is the way to go, it has everything firewall, antispam, antispyware, antivirus, real time file protection, smart scan, automatic smart scan when you start in safemode and a utility to create a rescue cd. Plus it is very light on ressource even when scanning my notebook stay very useable

No, its typical to work on the eye candy and feature-set first and then stability.
Guys, I doubt that's all MS has been working on with a couple 1000 engineers eh..

Major changes take place under the hood as well as the exterior paint job with every build.

    Nope! Its still 10
Still will have little to no impact on your torrents guys, never has, never will. TCP/IP limit patches are a "smoke & mirror" fix to a problem that doesn't exist, that's been documented numerous times but that myth just doesn't seem to wanna die. You still have Unlimited "Completed" connections, all the limit does is take you an extra minute to build your swarm, that's all.

In my case, my internet speed has really gone up. I get around 940 kb/s on torrents most of the time. Before, I was lucky to get around 800... Downloads from sites - the same. Average around 900 - 950 kb/s.

Using it here. So far no obvious problems. I did have Explorer die on me a couple of times so far though, and one hang-up (the system becoming totally unresponsive). Dunno if that's due to ESSET (it was the cause for similar problems on an earlier build)
