    Installed Windows folder size?

    Hello!
Recently, free space on my system partition is going low for no reason (800mb out of 48gb is free). I have installed FolderSizes program to see what use all space and top space user is windows folder (21.5 gb). Inside windows folder top space use folders are : Serviceprofiles (about 10gb); winsxs (4.19gb); system32 (3gb). I dont know if this ok, but i googled about normal size of installed windows, and its about 4-5gb. What to do?

Hi VR777, and Welcome To The Seven Forums.
Have you gone into Explorer (file manager) and tried running "Disk Cleanup."

To do this go into Explorer (file manager) and right click on the HDD that needs attention. Then navigate down to Properties, and click on "Disk Cleanup;" this should help a little bit. Also take a look at how much space your System Recovery is set up for. You may need to turn "System Recovery" off because of the small HDD you are using.

Have you install office or any other problems that may have set up caches on your HDD. Some programs do this in order to make it easy to update applications without having to put the CD/DVD used to install the application back in the DVD/CD drive. Just another thought. :)

Absolutely agree. My service profiles are quasi zero - they have only 2 itty bitty items. I suggest you open that folder and see what's in it.
Btw: a running Win7 with a reasonable amout of programs installed should be around 15 to 17GB total. That is with pagefile but without hibernation file. Suggest also to run WinDirStat. That will give you more details.

Really? Mine's been sitting at just over 6gb (software included) since the day I installed it....

Office is about 325MB. And those files are temporary files. Run CCleaner - that will take care of them.
