How can I see my icons when I drag them on the desktop

How can I see my icons when I drag them on the desktop? Its very unusual that windows 7 does not let you see the icon you are moving around the desktop.
Geesh, is this something difficult to ask for? Why would they change this.

Are you referring to seeing them while moving them? You can see the little cross hatching and the plus sign can't you?

    Here's a possible solution:

Right Click Computer > Advanced system settings > Performance box > Settings > Visual Effects tab > Show window contents while dragging

Already tried that, also I downloaded IEPro 7 which supposedly CNET raves about. Still you cant see the icons as you drag them around your desktop. You CAN see a wmv file window which is open but not icons

What are you referring to exactly? Faded image of the icons on your desktop you are moving? Mine does it...

I am referring to simply moving an icon from the left to the right. It does not show the icon moving when you are dragging it. It simply shows the mouse cursor until you drop the icon then the icon appears.
