keep desktop icons where they are

I need to change my screen resolution and font size (using the smaller, medium, large options under Personalize, Display) rather frequently. (Why I do this is not relevant to my question, but I will explain to anyone interested.) I have a fairly large number of desktop icons arranged where I want them, under my preferred viewing mode (screen resolution 1280x800, small font size). When I switch to a smaller resolution, Windows 7 tends to automatically rearrange the positions of all my desktop icons, even though I do not have Auto Arrange Icons checked. And it keeps them in that new arrangement when I switch back to my preferred resolution. It drives my crazy, having to manually put them back where I want them! I want Win 7 to leave my desktop icon arrangement alone! Actually, I don't much care what it does when I switch to lower resolutions, but I want them restored to My preferred positioning when I switch back to my preferred screen resolution. How can I make that happen?

DeskSave - Save and restore the positions of the icons on your desktop

Also in the software section of this forum there is a list of other free utilities...
