MS will sell you the student edition for $35?

The official student deal ended a while ago - the deal was $30 US.

Hey all, Just giving you an update. Paypal is going give me a refund after I send back the product. So, I'm going to get the student edition off Microsoft. I'll save $100. :) I just hope everything goes smooth. And, I'm putting a $500 insurance in case it gets lost int he mail. lol [with my luck anyway] Thanks all.

It's 65 now..That's cool I still save money and I still get a refund , so I'm happy. May not be the ultimate edition because it's home edition but still does the same thing.

Glad Paypal is warranting your purchase since that has been mentioned several times in the threads where it was hashed out here whether Win7 shoudl be bought on EBay. Most people said no. Others said there is no risk if you use Paypal, just buy from a reputable seller who cannot risk having their good reputation ruined.

Thank you for brining this here so we can see what has happened in at least one Ebay purchase. Far from being blacklisted, you are already a valued contributor to this community who we hope will stick around.

Only thing I am worried about, is sending back the evidence of the fraud software. I wanted to give to Microsoft all my software to catch the defrauders, but if I don't send it back, I don't get money back. And, I want my money back. It's lot to spend on something to get nothing.

I went through the resolution service of Paypal and when I got the repsose there was no paypal address as return to sender, or in the hash. So, I am not for sure that this legit. But, they never dishonered me in a transaction. So, I hope this legit.

You should have no worries.. last year I bought 3 OEM copies of Vista Ultimate, 1 turned out to be faked.. eBay/PP and MS worked to get ALL my $$ back.. and I still have the faked copy sitting on the shelf as a reminder. If it turns out your copy is faked, MS and eBay will do the right thing and get your money back.

If you have a Fry's Electronics near you, they have W7 Home Premium OEM for $88, sale goes til next Thursday..
