no volume in system tray

    hey guys, booted pc, volume isn't there, i tried going to task bar properties and turning it back on and there's nothing there it just says off and is gray, any registry keys or easy repairs?

    running sfc/scannow, i don't have any custom boot animations or themes so shouldn't be a problem.

    The YouTube video is a bit dated (as it mentions Vista), but I looked at my Win7 PC, and the advice they gave seemed to apply just the same:

    Hello Aaron,

    You might see if using step 9 in OPTION TWO of the tutorial below may be able to restore the Volume icon for you.

    System Icons - Enable or Disable

No Wifi or Volume icon in Tray?

In the past week or so, the volume and Wi-Fi icons disappeared from my system tray. The icons didn't show up in notification area settings, or the inactive icons menu. I've tried system restore, and another solution that can be found HERE. Any Ideas?
I'm running a Creative Xtreme Music card and it comes with its own volume control for the tray. I'd like to disable the default windows volume since I'll never use it, anyone know if there's a way? Not finding it like you would in XP.
The VOLUME in Sytem icons is grayed out. Sound has been working fine- but somehow it got turn OFF in the system try. I tried this link, and selected RESTORE DEFAULTS when in the System Icon Area- nothing happens. http://www.gradygroup.com/images/sound1.jpg Any ideas? Thanks...
