Ram issue with W7 x64

Hello people,

After read you all about what wonderful Windows 7 is, I installed it and I'm totally agree with you.
But I have a problem that you maybe could help me.

I have a HP TX2 1020 us with 4Gb of RAM and after my installation (Windows 7 RC Build 7100 x64 edition) my PC says me that it has 4GB of RAM but only 3.75GB are usable. I looked for answer for this issue but I can't find anything to solve it. I hope that you have the answer. Did anybody have this problem too

The memory is most likely being used for the integrated on-board graphics.

But I have an ATI HD3200 with 64MB dedicated and up to 1.9GB oh shared memory.

With Vista x64 I could use all 4GB RAM (usable).

It means that now these 256 Mb are only for my graphic card? It will not use more than that?

Thanks for your reply

64mb for a graphics card is well below par these days which is why the OS probably had to borrow some memory from your ram to make up for it.

Agree with your post, also Microsoft also released a update for Vista that show all 4 gigs but this is not always the case as you are finding.

Sounds like one of the things YOU installed is causing a memory leak.
You should fix that...

When booting, look at the first BIOS screen and see if it shows less than your installed ram, if it does check in your BIOS and see if you find Memory Hole, if so enable it.

I wouldn't be too quick to jump to a memory leak conclusion. The fact that he has 2 GB of useable RAM after everything settled down doesn't sound like there is much RAM unaccounted for. Given that he has 2 GB useable out of a total of 4 GB system taking into account an integrated shadow graphics footprint + Windows 7....it sounds about right. There actually may be no problem at all happening
