    sort and view question

Is there a way to make the sort by and view option folder dependent rather than library dependent like in XP. I would like to have some folder in detailed view sorted by date created regardless of the library but not every folder in that library.

I don't know if it clear just ask if it isn't.

    Hello Caddish,

I'm sorry but you cannot do that in a library since the folders are all grouped together in it as one.

The only way around this is to view in through Windows Explorer as normal folders, or create a new library with the files included in it for each view option you want them sorted by.

    Hope this helps some,

Thanks but is it just me or it's a stupid behavior, in 2 weeks it made me swear at least 20 time. For example I have a library for my download and I like them to be ordered by date created then let's say I extract a file go into the folder instinctively I order the file by name but surprise when I go back in my download folder file are ordered by name. To bad I bought a slightly expensive keyboard I can't hit it anymore .

Not when you think of what a library is for. It is suppose to group folders from different locations into one place (library folder) as shortcuts to make accessing them easier than having to navigate to each folder individually in Windows Explorer.

Since the included folders are in one library folder, everything will be treated the same for the view settings in that librart folder. Now, for example, your C:\Users\(user name)\Pictures folder will not share the same view settings as your Pictures library folder. You can set the Pictures library folder to have one view setting (ex: sort by name), and have the C:\Users\(user name)\Pictures folder set as something else.

    Hope this helps more,
