i know my laptop is x64 capable but i've never considered it because of the fact i've only got 2 gigs. i dont play games or anything too intense (just answer forum questions and wait for new builds) so maybe i'll give x64's a chance. although the x86's usually always leak first
If I hadn't just upgraded from 2 to 4gb on the system prior to January I would be running both here! If you can put up with the 3.581 out of 4gb for usable ram there's no problem with running either with a little extra while simply being a change of kernels doesn't require more just makes more memory available with the 64bit addressing. http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...c8a701033.mspx
What you have is good.I would stick with it ,you wont have any problems with it ,and if you do you know where to come,you have a great WEI score ,better than a lot of people on this forum, so stick with it in my opinion.Actually, I'll just use XP for now and wait for may 5th and get the RC beta from Microsoft..
The recommendation for the installation of the RC is to perform a clean install uf your hardware meets the minimum requirements. Since you already seem to have had 7 that's already covered. I clipped this out of the email MS sent here.
What was up with the two program files? I noticed this when I had the 64bit installed.
1) Program Files
&
2) Program Files (x86)
That's ro be expected and normal there! When you go to install some older program even some games those will be seen in x86 folder while 64bit compatible softwares and updates plus default folders will be seen in the 64bit. This is how the 64bit 7 is now setup to separate by design the 32bit emulation from the normal 64bit programs.
