    Open/Save Dialog Folders Missing

    Hello,

Recently the folders that typically display down the left side of the "old" open/save dialog have disappeared which although is not a major problem is quite an annoyance when using applications such as Audacity.

To explain my point here is a screenshot of the "old" dialog box:

However, the problem does not happen with the "new" dialog with the libraries feature:

Any help which you could provide would be appreciated,

    Hi there!

Not sure if this is *quite* what you're talking about, but maybe worth a try: Left Folder Pane Not Displayed In Windows 7 or Vista Explorer

Let me know if it's at all helpful.

    Cheers,

Thanks for your suggestion although when I run the command as an administrator I get the following error:

The module "shdocvw" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.

Make sure that "shdocvw" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again
As such I'm running sfc /scannow in hope that it would be able to replace said missing file. Is there any other steps I should take?

    Hello Warden,

In addition, if this started not to long ago, you could do a system restore using a restore point dated before this problem to hopefully fix it.

    Hope this helps,

Unfortunately after running SFC it did manage to replace some files, although in my case it was just my patched uxtheme files, which even after reverted still caused the same problem.

Also the main issue with using a restore point, is that after uninstalling CS4 and having a large amount of Windows updates from not powering this computer on in while lead all restore points prior to today to disappear.

    Thanks for your help though,

Yeah, the only examples I've found so far have been in regard to the left-hand folder pane being grayed out in Windows Explorer, but nothing specifically about dialog boxes. Thought it might be two symptoms of the same problem but I guess not... I'll let you know if I come across anything else though.

    Cheers,
