    ultimate / enterprise

    couple questions.....

    1) what is the dif between ultimate and enterprise?

    2) which is better?

    3) can you upgrade from ultimate to enterprise if it is better than ultimate?

    thanks in advance

The primary difference is that enterprise is ONLY available to Volume License Customers. Therefore, you cannot just go to a store and pick up the Enterprise version.

The feature set between Enterprise and Ultimate are the same. Ultimate is just sold in retail channels and can be purchased via a single license.

Enterprise is a special version for large businesses... and usually has a volume license. From what I've read Ent. is the same as Ult.

There are only 2 additions from Pro to Ultimate... Ultimate has all the language packs built in and includes Bitlocker. Since most people dont need the languages, and there are plenty of alternatives for drive encryption such as Truecrypt, I dont see much reason to suggest Ultimate to anyone!

Here is some more information on Enterprise - Microsoft Windows Enterprise: Windows 7, Evolved for the Modern Enterprise. The other answers here give you the primary differences. Since you are just one person (as opposed to a large business :)) you should be just fine with Ultimate!

I guess that is a good question? But why? They are the same except for the VLP Keys. I don't think you want to setup a KMS server for Enterprise?

Not if you are a home user as you don't have the volume license keys and cannot buy them individually.

If you are a home user, you have no business being in possesion of a VL copy of Win7 Enterprise. Where did you get this copy... a torrent DL?
