Don't know if it's any help.. but my system is just randomly locking up now. It did it to me about 10 times while I was trying to reformat and reinstall XP. When I have the XP disc in, I go through the setup process, and I get a blue screen of death and then it crashes. When I started the system back up, it locked up on its own about 3 minutes after all the start-up was finished. Thought it may have been something to do with just photos, but it is totally random now. Any ideas?

My computer locked up several times while trying to get to the folder to get this.. I really wish I could get this. It's to the point where the computer is locking up very frequently and it's next to impossible to to anything on it

POSSIBLE SOLUTION - At some stage you may have color calibrated your display using the tool in Windows 7. As soon as you remove this calibration profile speed will return to normal.

Right Click Desktop -> Screen Resolution -> Advanced Settings -> Color Management -> Color Management -> Advanced -> Change System Defaults

Then click on the default profile (the one you are using now) and click Remove. The profile should have some string in it like 'calibrated' ( I forget, I just deleted mine ). Make sure the new default profile does not have the 'calibrated' string in it. When you click Remove you will probably note some change in the screen colors as another profile becomes the default.

Now suddenly the image viewer will be lightning fast.
    Go figure.
