You can see the drive in explorer, but cannot access the files there ?
No problem ! Download the attachment, unzip and run the InstallTakeOwnership.reg file as admin . Now take ownership entry is in your right click context menu.

Now right click the drive, folder or file you cannot access due to lack of adequate permissions, Click on take ownership in the right click context menu, wait a few second to complete the operation, and use the files as you did it earlier

    Hi Arc and NotMyCupOfTea,

Form memory (and I could be wrong, it's not what it used to be), by default the takeownership doesn't show up on the drive subcontext menu.

I've added another script that I wrote last year to resolve a similar issue. see if it works for you.

    You may also try this
    1. Open an elevated CMD prompt and navigate to the drive in question.

    takeown /F . /R /A /D Y > NUL [now press ENTER]
(replace the dot (.) with the drive letter)

    Good Luck

    Tim

My pleasure. I agree, lets both hope you'll never have to use it.
