Norton got a bad rap in the recent past, nothing that matters. The new Norton is good, in the background in scans, as a low priority so as not to pull your system out of idle state, also, when launching full screen applications such as "games", it practically disables itself, having no effect on gaming performance, this is very nice, and why "I" use it.
However, I also use AVG Free. As of now, there is nothing negative, at all, concerning the new Norton and AVG. Norton has a very strategic position in the market, and they have no choice but to program a remarkable product, otherwise they will never, ever maintain their position. This is what produced the new Norton Internet Security. AVG is at the opposite end of the spectrum, but with the same ambitions, they want to penetrate the market, maybe they will, we'll see, it may take 2-4 years. Peace |

Are you copying a bunch of small files? I have noticed that small files copy much slower than large files. One 1GB file would go at 20MB+ on my system and 1GB of small files, lets say 3-5MB each, would go at 5-10MB/sec.
