It is the Symantec enterprise edition 3, it will be running in a 32bit server2003/2008 and exchng2007 environment, we have a combination of machines ranging from XPSP3, VistaBiz and Win7, all less than 2½ years old and fully updated.

I appreciate all your inputs, and the wheedling about how crap Symantec was, but appearantly it has become much improved. Not to mention we are outsourcing about 45% (3 servers) of our load in the next 5 months and they all have Symantec, so there is also the crossclient compatibility issue to be addressed.

On another note, I do believe that this forum is on e of the best I have dared to use, no excessive flaming for asking about basic info and some good input from the other members

Now I have to find out about eventual issues between Win7 and SMB 2.0. I will check-in here again later today/this evening.

When you buy one of the paid AV programs, you pay for bloat in almost exact proportion to the money spent.

It is almost as though they need to convince their suckers that they are doing something, doing handstands and backflips every time you turn on the machine.

Contrast that with experts' choice MSE which installs in 30 seconds, updates, runs it's first scan, then you never see or hear from it again unless an iinvader tries to get in.

Even almost-invisible Avast has responded to trim its own sails to not require email registration any longer.
