DaRonRon, I went into Task Manager and I get 64 processes using 1.92GB of Memory.
Pretty similar to what other indicators are telling me.
My core temps are in their 30s and my GPU is at 45c. I'm now using 1or2% of my CPU.
    Should I be concerned?

well r u running anything? I have only firefox running and i have 58 processes running with 1.18 Gb ram usage. Everything else seems to be normal though..

firefox is the big one when i usually overlook all my processes....
    and sidebar....
each one i have been able to confirm that as more times passes (or the in the case of firefox as i open and close tabs...)
that it keeps growing in size to about 300-400ish mb while sidebar in one day goes all the way up to 200 (with one gadget (weather usually) )
java does sometimes does eat up memory but it does garbage collection and so it does manage its own mem when its not needed it gives back mem...

Don't know whether the little desktop gadget quad core meter is any good but I just booted into Vista x64 and it was at about 38% ram usage.
I went into msconfig and stopped a few things in startup, notably Skype and Cyberlink Powedrvd..
Then I went back into W7 and did the same thing.
So with the desktop, Rocket Dock, FF and Avast running the gadget informs me I'm using 37% in either operating system doing the same thing.
Task manager seems to confirm this.

In my case at least there doesn't seem any reduction in RAM demand between Vista 64 and W7 7100.

    Cheers, John:)

According what you saying,if someone is got to be concerned, that is me,because my temperatures are constantly around 70-80(AMD x2 5600),open case and cooler fan keeps spininining.I think it's time for me to replace cooler with stronger one.

almost most of the time it correlates like this
total ram / 3 (sometimes /2) = Ram Usage at bootup...
i can say this because i saw a increase in ram usuage when i installed my 4 gb kit...
    and it followed that rule..
take into account i am not running a separate antivir or third-party firewall (the windows firewall is good enough until i am convinced that comodo is *completely* compatible with Win 7

    DaRonRon,

Win 7 uses less RAM then all previous versions of windows.
This is done mainly by not turning on system programs until they are needed. :)
How do you get it a few hundred megs? I just don't understand what you did lol...

I only have like 5 processes running and am still using about 1.3gigs.
