Actually my elder brother says the memory usage doesn't matter.... it is only the figures that satisfy u, else windows vista and 7 are built in such a way that they utilize max ur resource to work better....
See the latest with F-Secure and other progs...
Only thing I fear I should not get warning from the admin as I'm posting too many Screen shots...

Thanks, Seriously apart from the figures only to satisfy do u really feel the more ram usage is hogging ur sys resources... I say No, it only allocates ur free ram to perform something but what, I don't know??? Now u should answer this...

no your right...... i'd prefer it cache as much RAM as possible, thats why its there , & it is SUPER responsive...

Hello guys. Im glad to see Win7 uses the RAM more "on the fly" than Vista (both x64). By that i mean that Vista, after two or three days without reboot wold just stuck in 1,8gb, for example. In Win7 i notice that the more apps and stuff i close, the more ram gets free, responding almost instantly. So, the max i´ve seen it reach (in full) was like 2,5gb; and the minimum i´ve seen was around 750/800mb. All in Ultimate x64.

    Cheers.

    I'm new here,

While running Windows 7 RC 7100 and 7127, I was able to maintain an average RAM usage of 600MB and sometimes even below 500MB on a 2.5GB laptop. But of course, I disabled many services I didn't need and tweaked the OS using common sense. I maintained that usage % with Firefox 3, AIM 6.9, Playlist.com playing music, and general web browsing. Pretty impressive as I can only maintain 1.56GB of usage on Vista SP2 x64 doing the same thing, unless I use IObit Game Booster for game playing then it drops dramatically to 789MB of usage.

    :)

superfetch does a good job in windows 7 of allocating ram. in the end it doesnt really matter how much its using, it matters whether everything is responsive and quick :) which it is. my understanding is that the more ram you have, the more superfetch caches ram.

about 800mb of 4GB ram with firefox 5 tabs, tweaks services 26 processes, no start-up programs running in background, stable, snappier and responsiveness.

running from clean install 7201 x64.

    Win 7 wins ! Vista loser !

    Just my 2 cents.

Mine's at 846mb on 7201x64 with 2GB total. Only running Avast, Live Messenger (no windows open), and Chrome (13 tabs). The former two are the only startup entries I have.
