    Win 7 turned back into XP!????

    Ok so just now my win7 machine turned back into XP. I have no idea why or how and it will not let me login. it asks me to authorize online, i try it but it can not reach the internet (which it is connected to).

    Anyone have an idea on what is going on? I just used my machine last night and it was working fine. I shut down and boot up after I get back from work and it is showing XP.....

    I have so much work to do and nothing can get done.
    Please help!

    cheers,

    You cannot login yet it's asking you to activate? How many partitions are on your hard disk(s)? Sounds like either your BIOS or boot manager started an old XP installation by mistake.

    yes, the xp screen comes up and before i click on my icon to login a popup occurs asking me to activate.

    i do have multiple partitions on my hdd as well as a couple of drives. i think it is pulling the old xp by mistake but how can i fix this? or test to see if that is the case?

    Could you tell us how your drives are set up?

    For example, before I formatted and just put Windows 7 on my main drives (RAID0 ftw!) it looked something like this;

    Drive 1/2 (RAID0): Windows 7 Partition | Windows XP Partition | Ubuntu 10.04 Partition
    Drive 3 (Secondary): Storage Partition

    my master had vista, upgraded to 7 and is partitioned. an old drive (slave) had and i am guessing still has xp on it, and is partitioned as well.

    Try removing the XP drive for now. If you can get into Windows 7 afterwards let me know.
