Internet connection icon missing from systray

    Hi,
I turned on my Dell Laptop running W7 today and the "2 tv's and globe" icon showing that you are connected to the Internet is missing from the systray. Thankfully I'm connected to the Internet, however it is very annoying and mystifying that this icon has just disappeared. I've gone into the taskbar properties and done the customiise option, but the icon does not appear on that list either so I don't have an option to 'show' it permamently etc. I've also tried a few System Restore points and that hasn't made any difference either.
Despite trying to Goggle a solution for several hours, I've not gotten anywhere. I'm now turning to the experts here to see if anyone on this Forum can suggest a solution to this niggly little problem? Hopefully someone has come across this already and has sorted it out?
Many thanks for any help or suggestions.

Hello Toppers and welcome to the forum.

Your description of the missing network icon sounds like your running Vista not 7.

Plese post a screen shot of your desktop. And did you check to make sure it isn't just hidden. Press the arrow by the tray and make sure its not under there.

    Let us know.

    Hi,
Definately running W7 and not Vista and as mentioned it's definitely not hidden, although I may not have explained this clearly enough. Sorry I don't know how to show a screen dump of my desktop.
Thanks for the reply. Any other suggestions?

Did you try the reset tutorial above?

Edit: Just saw your second post that you tried it.

Your internet icon is there; it is the second from the end on the right. It is not the two monitors and globe that you mentioned; it is the bar graph. I have never had the two monitors icon in Win 7.

Your running wireless. Your "TV" has become a signal meter.

    Its there!
