What do you like about Windows 7?

I prefer the 64 bit versions of the Beta to the RC on my desktop (but this could be caused by my attempts to import stuff using tools with debatable compatibility).
(Core i7 920, RAID 5, 12 gB RAM)

I prefer the 32 bit versions of the RC to the Beta on my tablet PC (and didn't attempt the imports on it)
(Lenovo x61 Tablet w/Centrino Pro, 7200 rpm SATA HD, 4gB of RAM)

Hmm...there are a couple of things that i like.

The new taskbar. I wasn't very impressed initially as it was quite a bit different than what i was used to for, oh i don't know, forever! But it has grown on me. And i like it very much. I have pinned some of my most accessed folders on the taskbar and it is so much easier to access them now. And it saves me icon space on the quicklaunch bar.

I like how quickly the system is available to me after startup/reboot. The slowness of the initial startup is almost nonexistent.

The GUI is smooth, slick, efficient and extremely snappy.

The new WiFi changes are brilliant.

WMP is now actually useable. Though i still prefer Media Player Classic HomeCinema.

The system also feels more responsive. Feels efficient. I guess it attributes to the new memory management system.

You sound just like me I use exactly the same software lol but I would have to say the best thing about 7 is the efficient handling of memory and zippiness of it all.

Really not much they can do about that.

I'm surprised so many people have sluggishness with libraries, libraries open quicker in 7 than regular folder on vista or XP for me lol. I love libraries.

The speed improvements and memory management is great.

But more than anything, the new taskbar, aero peek, and aero snap are by far my favorite things. It actually makes using my computer pleasurable. Not to mention they all look very pretty . I never maximize windows anymore, I always have them vertically maximized via aero snap. And the fill-up-half-the-screen feature is incredibly useful.

Also, I'm gonna post this in another thread, but I'm curious as to why people still use quicklaunch. You can do everything you used to do with quicklaunch via a button press or two while you click on a taskbar icon. Like I often hear the whole thing about opening a file with a program. All you need to do is hold shift while you drag a file into a pinned program and it works perfectly.

The libraries seem to be as quick as folders.

So far so great...

Downloaded it in about 20 minutes, made the CD and then installed as a custom install in about 25 minutes. Everything that I have used so far works right out of the box except for my wireless network card does not come back on when I wake the computer up.

My HP color laser works with the original driver (4 or 5 years old) and while the software for my HP 7210 all in one printer did not install, I just plugged the printer into the USB port and W7 found it and its scan properties.

I'm a Google Chrome user but I am tring out IE 8 and it is ok. I have not explored its features.

I like the inproved look and feel of W7. Everything feels more fluid. Feels faster too. No lock up or crashes. I hope that MS continues to improve it so that Apple will have to take down there (fun and funny) commercials.

Oh wow, that's odd, I never noticed that. It works fine with every program I have pinned except office XD.
