is it safe to delete windows folder in ..\jh\appdata

    is it safe to delete windows folder in ..\jh\appdata


    i have a user name john, whose appdata\windows folder properties shows 1GB file size, but when i select all subfolders and right click properties, it only shows 500MB.

    can i delete the this appdata\windows folder or not?????????????????

    No, do not delete it, by any means. It is an important folder, and if you delete it, you will mess things up.

    how about subfolders in it?????? and why the file size are not matching up of appdata\....\windows folder and its subfolder are not matching up

    Do not delete any of the subfolders in that folder. They are hidden, protected files, and protected for a good reason.

    If you feel the irresistible urge to play around with it, be sure you have a full system image backup on hand in case of emergency.

    I agree those folders should not be deleted. May I suggest, that since it is in your nature to make changes to the system (wisely asking for advice, first) create a system restore point on a regular basis. By default, a new restore point should be created about once a week. Check your default points, make sure that they are being created on a regular basis. In addition, before making any changes create a restore point.

    I might, also, suggest that you make a system image and put it in a safe place in the event that it is needed.

    Appdata is where the temporary and temporary internet files are kept. Usually that is the reason why this folder gets huge.
    I recomend you to use "Disk cleanup" program (type in start menu) instead of manually deleting files.
