I got rid of XP completely and use Windows 7 as my main OS.
I got few important documents, musics to keep so that's not the problem and I have another PC to share files with :)

I was having issues with Vista on my Laptop Which was the x86 version. I decided to to do the upgrade to 7077 x86 and it had some glitches so I finally said screw this and did a clean install of x64 Win7 7100.. now my laptop is running the best it has EVER run!!

If you upgrade and have issues right away then you can start over, no harm done. The real problem is more subtle. The upgrade may appear to be 100% successful, but you discover there are issues down the road when you try to install service packs or a new IE, after you've invested more time personalizing the OS. You have to also consider if you have issues over time you can never be certain if it's because of the upgrade or due to some other software you've installed. Doing a clean install eliminates that doubt. I agree it's a lot of extra work and most of the time it's probably not necessary. After Win7 goes gold I'll probably wait a while to see the results people are getting with upgrading over RC1 before I decide.
