Should I go for x64 or stick with x86?

I haven't had any games run noticeably slower on x64 than on x86...and all of my games are 32 bit. If anything, they're probably running a bit faster because the system can process background applications faster and thus more resources can go to the game.

Fallout 3, World of Warcraft - Wrath of the Lich King, Need for Speed Undercover, Need for Speed Pro Street, Mirror's Edge, Fatal/Fake, Sonic Adventure DX - Director's Cut, Sonic Heroes, PCSX2, ePSXe, 1964, Devil May Cry 4, Call of Duty 4, Ragnarök battle Offline, VisualBoyAdvance and even Sonic & Knuckles Collection for the old Windows 95 works perfectly in my machine with Windows 7 x64. I'm not even suffering any slowdowns at all with modern, old and not so old games.
Maybe I should post some screenshots with frame rates to kill the myth of the poor performance of 32 bits applications under 64 bits OS?

No, screen dumps is not nessecery. I take your words for it :)
One more question, and if it is YES, I can see x64 for myself.

I have Norton Ghost ver 14.0, will that work in Windows 7 (x86 and x64)? If so, I can backup my entire C:\ and then install x64 and then try for myself.
Some of you wrote, that windows 7 it self was faster responding than x86, and that got me interestered.

Windows 7 x64 is fast responding because the OS itself, drivers and some other stuff hardly related to the OS takes advantage of the 64 bits processor. That's the reason.
About Norton Ghost 14, I think if it used to work in x86 edition, it must work in x64 without problems. But, since this application is a little "invasive" for the operating system, I think I can do something for you. Today at night I've to reinstall Windows 7 at my own computer at home, because I've build 7048 x64 and I want to upgrade to RC. Before I do that, I can install Norton Ghost 14 and give it a try, but you got to wait for me until tomorrow so I can test it imaging and making the things that Ghost used to do.

    See you. ^_^

You shouldn't have any problem. I'm using using windows 7 64 bit on an hp pavilion dv5-1153 ei (Intel Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz and 2Gb of DDR2 800), and it's snappier than the factory installed vista home premium. Right now my RAM usage is 840MB with two internet explorer windows open and an antivirus program running.

I went X64 on advice of the kind peeps on here. WOW i have noticed a big difference. 6 Gig ram all the way, processor never goes above 70% lol, having said that i dont run a lot of massivly intensive programs. I did yesterday have 15 instances of putty open. System did not slow one bit. I sometimes forget to check how much stuff i have running, but 7 dont seem to mind. Seems 7 manages it memory a hell of a lot better then vista. And ive also never gone above 4.5 gig ram used lol.
Ill never go back to 32 lol

I'm the one who is getting scared! :S
Yesterday, before I tryed to install Norton Ghost 14 on my machine, I decided to install a new hard drive the I bought the last week. So, I turned my machine off and remember something to do with my software before. When I turned the machine on still whitout making any hardware changes, one of my old seven (ironically ) hard disks started to make mechanical noises and almost undetectable by the BIOS. Now is working. The sound stopped and the disk seems to be working normal, but I still don't know which disk is doing that because I had no time to test the usual diagnose.
I just hope this isn't a problem with one of the two hard disks that I've in RAID 0. There's where I've my OS.
So... that's why I still can't install Norton Ghost. I hope I can get the software installed and tested for tomorrow. Forgive me for make you wait, but I was forced to.
When I have news, I'll post here.

    Wish me good luck! ^_^U
