Did you ever get your customized themes to work again? I'm having this exact same issue and would love to use my personalized themes again. I've never had any problems with themes like this until today.

Is there something I'm doing wrong with Style builder perhaps?

I'd say so, i think i may have added Vista only parameters and that may have caused the problem. Custom themes are working fine, providing i don't edit them!

How do you remove these vista only elements? I have custom themes working but ones I've personalized myself are still giving me issues.

Depends, if you didn't put any Vista parameters in yet, and they still aren't working...

I'm not sure tbh. Maybe ask some theme designers and see if they have any info on it.

Okay thanks. This thread saved me from doing a reinstall of windows, at least. I'll figure the issue with the themes out sooner or later.

Thanks I had a very similar problem but mine was with a theme from Deviantart that used custopack software. I too was stuck in a boot up loop. Windows would boot up as normal then show the please wait text but then the screen would flash black and it would continuously loop like this indefinitely.

Using advice from you guys I'm back in business so thank you.

I booted in safe mode (safe mode option 1) I then ran
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
then uninstalled custopack from the control panel menu, rebooted and all was well again. :) To be honest I think simply uninstalling custopack would have worked by itself, but I thought what the hell sfc can be a useful command for situations such as this.

Lastly yes I know this is an old thread I've posted on but It would have made sense for me to start a new thread as the advice here helped me solve the problem.
