A very strange problem

I have installed an 80GB Intel G1 SSD on the wife's laptop and installed Vista on it (that's what she wanted). The laptop is now a lot faster loading programs (even big ones like PowerPoint and Word are instant) and it also runs a bit cooler. There is, however, a very strange problem that I cannot fathom.

When I boot the laptop, there are 2 black screen phases of about 10 to 12 seconds after the running bar is done and after I selected the user (her partition or mine) - after the Welcome screen until the desktop shows up.
Same thing during shutdown. A 15 to 20 second black screen until the "shutting down" screen comes up. In both cases something must be running because the fan is working overtime.
Also whenever the UAC window comes up, there is a black screen phase before and after I say "Allow".

I have noticed in Device Manager that my Base System Device and my Coprocessor have yellow flags. I was trying to update their drivers but neither the system nor myself (on the HP website) could find drivers. I did, however, update the BIOS.

Specs: HP DV6258SE Model RP168UA
------- AMD TL56, 1.8GHz with 2GB of RAM

well i've faced these black screen phase but it happens after resume from standby or hibernate, or changing my theme which different in your case. I always thought it caused by graphic card driver but since it just for about 10,or 20 secs. I'm just letting it be :)

BTW,does this Black screen phase happens before?or recently happen to you?

My first attempt was no good. I used the chipset driver from the US site but it gave me all kinds of problems. I'll try the Canadian site later. Thanks for the find.
